MACI Innovation

As an established client project management consultancy, MACI Innovation has generated a wealth of experience in the development and delivery of large scale, complex capital investment projects across the aviation, transportation and construction industries. The company ethos is to develop forward thinking solutions to complex issues and as a result of this they recently identified a growing issues within their client base in the construction industry around asset digitisation.

A recent McKinsey & Company report* on the construction industry and productivity identified that investment in infrastructure is growing at a rapid rate, equating to over $13 trillion by 2030.

‘Megaprojects’ will account for a greater share of these developments than ever before, however, research estimates that 98% of megaprojects have the potential to improve on performance and productivity through the increased use of data and technology - something other industries have achieved with great success.

The principle areas highlighted in the report where these improvements could be made include:

  • Improved organisation, decision making and innovations in the procurement process
  • A consolidated, consistent and efficient approach to communication across locations, departments and suppliers
  • Utilisation of technological advances in the management of costs and finances
  • Effective utilisation and management of data

‘The industry has not yet embraced new digital technologies that need up-front investment, even if the long-term benefits are significant’

MACI Innovation approached Avocor to deploy their Open Collaboration Solution (F series) in their offices to specifically enhance process digitalisation (the process of moving away from paper and towards cloud based, real-time shared of information to improve collaboration)

In an industry where digital device implementation is limited, it was imperative for MACI to choose an platform which could be used in meeting or huddle spaces but was simple and easy to use. With its embedded Windows 10 operating system, the Avocor Open Collaboration Solution provides a familiar user interface that is instantly recognisable. Users can access software applications such as PowerPoint, Word and Excel directly from the display or connect people together using cloud based communication platforms such as Skype for Business or Google Hangout.

Because the Avocor proposition is platform agnostic and completely flexible, MACI could integrate 3rd party UC&C tools such as Autodesk, Navisworks and Adobe PDF to assist the digitisation of BIM and CAD drawings to create a collaboration solution which was tailored to their individual needs and requirements.

Simultaneously, the Avocor Intelligent Touch using InGlass™ technology delivers an extremely responsive touch experience with incredibly accurate annotations, capturing version changes and enabling content to be shared virtually, anywhere in the world.

MACI Innovation has now deployed the Avocor solution at their Headquarters and are positioning the solution as a key element in asset digitisation across their construction and design client base, leading the way in improving productivity in this rapidly growing sector.
